White on white.  This is one of my favorite looks.  Especially for a brand new baby.  It shows off their freshness and newness so well.    I was so happy that this was the exact aesthetic this stylin’ mom was after.

A lovely morning spent with an even more lovely baby and family.

When I arrived, big brother was still sleeping.  He woke from his nap, had a few moments of quiet time and then was ready to show me his neighbourhood.   As we left the house, he carried with him a handmade incense burner.  We strolled around the block and he swung his censer, the small bells being drown out by the big car sounds of a busy Toronto street.  He didn’t notice the disruption.  He was focused on the movement of the swinging and perhaps imagined clouds of smoke lifting up to the sky.

Soon our attention turned to finding flowers and a lovely place to sit.  And chatting about his new little brother.  There is a lot to cover when you’re spending time with an almost 3 year old!

These beautiful boys are so lucky to have two compassionate, thoughtful and insightful parents.  What an amazing family!

Sometimes timing is everything.

Catherine and Joel had many opportunities to meet each other over the past couple of years.  They shared similar friends and interests.  Even as they felt themselves drawn to the other, they both recognized that the timing was not right.  It wasn’t until they shared the same neighbourhood and were ready to admit their feelings for the other did the moment finally happen.  That feeling when you know this is it.  The timing is now perfect.

There are so many moments that you can’t rush.  Nature takes control and there isn’t anything you can do to rush a perfect moment.  As I contemplated Catherine and Joel’s story of falling in love, I knew the story of their engagement session had to be shared as well.

As we emailed about the perfect spot for an engagement session, Catherine and Joel suggested meeting at High Park in Toronto.  It is a beautiful location and very close to their home.  Finding a time that suited all three of our schedules wasn’t so easy.  To complicate matters, we were trying to work around the peak of cherry blossom season.  The very warm weather in March hinted that the trees would have an early blooming season.  This put a bit of pressure on finding the ideal date.  We ended up scheduling a session on the one day it suited everyone.  We knew that our date might not coordinate with the blossoms.

The day of our engagement session arrived and with it the best possible timing of capturing the blossoms.  As we approached the park we realized we weren’t the only ones coming to visit these stunning trees.  Radio announcers were urging Torontonians to flock to the park on this very day as this might be the only chance to see the blossoms.  The rain and wind in the weekend forecast would quickly destroy the magical display of pink flowers.  So we celebrated the blossoms and Catherine and Joel’s upcoming wedding with hundreds of other people.  It just felt right.

C&J – I am beyond excited for the wedding day you are planning.  Not only are you celebrating the beginning of your marriage, but your focus on family and friends will make your day so extraordinary.  See you in the apple orchard!

announcing…..grandparent mini sessions l kitchener family photographer

I am so excited to announce my first ever Grandparent Mini Sessions.  For those of you who follow my blog or have walked with me during the past few months, know that my children lost their grandmother 2 months ago.  The pictures that I have of my children and my mother are irreplaceable.    My hope with these minisessions is to pass on this gift of treasured keepsakes to you and your family.

I scheduled this day of minisessions to fall between Mother’s and Father’s Day.  This could be your answer for the perfect gift.  You provide the opportunity for beautiful pictures and your parents would then have the freedom to choose the print collection for their needs.  I have gift certificates available if needed.

Spaces are limited so email me to reserve a spot.

I did not expect to have this type of maternity session in March.  You know, the kind where you need to seek out cute hot weather clothes and footwear.  Who has a summer maternity wardrobe when your baby is due mid April?  This ultra stylish mom managed to pull together one very punchy outfit for our evening photo session.  Did I mention that it’s not even a maternity dress?  I never looked this good with any of my pregnancies.

I was so pleased to get outside in this weather with my camera.  These two were the perfect beginning to my outdoor photography season.  Warm temperatures, golden light, beautiful subjects and shared gelato as a final treat – it doesn’t get much better.

Can’t wait to meet this new baby!
